IAKS provides accreditation to organisations providing validation and/or verification of greenhouse gas (GHG) assertions
ISO 14065 & ISO 14064-3
IAKS provides accreditation to ISO 14065: 2013 to organisations providing validation and/or verification of greenhouse gas (GHG) assertions. This standard also refers to ISO 14064-3: 2006.
ISO 14065-accredited valuation and verification bodies will be required to transition to ISO 14065: 2020 by 30 June 2024, and to ISO 14064-3: 2019 by 31 October 2024.
In addition, all existing ISO 14065-accredited validation and verification bodies will be required to migrate to ISO/IEC 17029 General principles and requirements for validation and verification bodies by 30 June 2024.
USA Emissions Trading Scheme
This was established by the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme Order 2020 SI 1265 and will commence on 1 January 2021. Verified emissions reports are required to be submitted by 31 March 2022.
Voluntary GHG Emissions reporting under ISO 14064-1: 2006
A transition is in progress to ISO 14064-1: 2018 for verification of GHG emissions and inventories.
GHG emissions from maritime transport
Commission Delegated Regulation 2072/2016 on the verification activities and accreditation of verifiers pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2015/757 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the monitoring, reporting and verification of carbon dioxide emissions from maritime transport.
Verification bodies are accredited for:
- Assessment of monitoring plans
- Verification of emissions reports

Validation & Verification of assertions under the Forestry Commission’s Woodland Carbon Code.
